Beef and Broccoli (Better Than Takeout)

Introduction

This Beef and Broccoli recipe is a classic Asian-inspired dish that’s quick, flavorful, and healthier than takeout. Tender beef slices are stir-fried with crisp broccoli and coated in a rich garlic soy sauce. Ready in under 25 minutes, it’s perfect for busy weeknights and family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 500 g flank steak or sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)

Sauce

  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Whisk all sauce ingredients together and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  3. Add beef and stir-fry 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Add broccoli and cook 2–3 minutes until bright green.
  6. Return beef to the pan.
  7. Pour in the sauce and cook until thick and glossy.
  8. Serve hot.
